The Lincolnshire Assembly met for the first time on 1st July 2005. It was created in 2005 by the county council and its partners to secure a common voice for Lincolnshire and promote action in support of our communities.
It is a non-decision making body that provides a means for public, private and voluntary sector organisations to improve the way they work together and to develop co-operative solutions to the important issues facing the county.
The Assembly is chaired by the Bishop of Lincoln, the Right Reverend Dr John Saxbee. There are currently around 60 member organisations.
The local authorities are represented by their leaders and chief executives alongside many other partner organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors, including the seven district Local Strategic Partnerships. Further details about current membership can be found by clicking on the links on this page.
Organisations and partnerships eligible for membership can demonstrate locally-based decision-making arrangements, and a commitment to Lincolnshire, through implementing the Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS).
The SCS sets out a broad vision for Lincolnshire’s future. The county council is responsible, under the Local Government Act 2000, for ensuring that it is developed in partnership with the Lincolnshire Assembly.
The SCS is currently being revised through the ‘Big County, Big Skies, Big Future’ campaign based on wide-ranging public consultation to ensure that all our communities have an opportunity to have their say about the kind of place they would like Lincolnshire to be in the future. The Assembly’s aim is complete the new SCS by autumn this year.
